Dr. Mahoney is a counseling psychologist with an extensive background in individual assessment, professional development, and instructional design. Dr. Mahoney has served as an Associate to the Academy for many years. Her most recent work is focused on The Leadership Project, a highly individualized executive development program. Her background includes twenty years in higher education administration, eight of which were spent in a leadership role in a nationally recognized, innovative program for adults.

During the last five years, Dr. Mahoney has been particularly interested in how people take in information, analyze and integrate ideas, and make decisions, especially in management situations. Her experience in assessing individual differences has led her to create strategies for recognizing and using human talent more effectively and for developing programs, which take into account differences in how people learn.

Dr. Mahoney works one-on-one with individuals as well as with groups and organizations to do needs assessment, resource identification, program planning, implementation, and evaluation related to educational and professional development. Her work has also focused on helping individual to create an effective balance of managerial strengths and to find ways of coping with personal deficits which may lead to executive derailment.

Dr. Mahoney holds a BA degree in English Literature from Mt. St. Mary College, and an MA in English Literature from Catholic University. She then earned an M.Ed. in Counseling and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Boston College.
